Which affordable used EVs should I consider?

These models commonly appear on the used market and are often considered by first-time buyers. Suitability depends on the individual car, its battery and your needs. Prices change with age, mileage and condition.

Nissan Leaf

Widely available and practical. Older versions have smaller batteries and use CHAdeMO for rapid charging, which is less common than CCS. Check battery condition carefully.

Renault Zoe

Compact and economical for town driving. Some older cars had batteries leased separately, so confirm whether the battery is owned before buying.

BMW i3

Compact and distinctive. Battery size varies by year, and some versions had a petrol range extender. Confirm exactly which version you are viewing.

MG4, Volkswagen ID.3, Kia e-Niro and Hyundai Kona Electric

Newer designs with larger batteries and CCS rapid charging, usually at a higher price. Good options if you need more range or space.

Peugeot e-208 and Vauxhall Corsa Electric

Small hatchbacks that share much of their underlying technology. Suited to shorter journeys and town use.
