Most people need less range day to day than they expect, but occasional long trips and cold weather matter.
WLTP versus real world
The official WLTP figure is a standard test used to compare cars. Real-world range is usually lower, particularly in cold weather, at sustained motorway speeds and with heating on. Treat WLTP as a comparison, not a promise.
A simple way to estimate
Take your longest regular journey and add a generous buffer for winter, detours and battery ageing. If you can charge at home every night, your daily needs reset each morning. If you rely on public charging, allow more buffer between charges.
Older batteries
A used car's usable capacity may be lower than when new. Ask for battery condition evidence, how it was measured and when, rather than relying on the dashboard estimate.
